Host a Slideshow Party

We just finished our first power point party and it was a blast. It’s a great way to get to know your friends better and have a ton of fun, and I promise your friends are more interesting than you think. It’s a great way to give your friends an opportunity to shine in a way you don’t usually see. I was blown away by how funny and interesting my friends were. I was like “wow, I didn’t know x was so funny”. It’s a great way to get to know your friends better and have a ton of fun.

tips for hosting a slideshow party

1. Just do it. Getting it on the calendar and raising your hand to host is the hardest part, but it’s worth it. Once you’ve got that out of the way, it’s just a few things.
2. Have a timer. We agreed on 5-10 minutes per presentation, which is the perfect amount of time to keep things moving. You can get in a good story, but not too long that it gets boring.
3. Use a clicker. It’s so much easier to move through the slides and keep the flow going. It’s also just a lot of fun and makes you feel like you’re giving a TED talk. I bought two from amazon, just to determine which form factor we liked more. Here’s the one we liked.
4. Move all of the slides into one deck. This way you don’t have people pulling up their own presenations, running into issues, etc. It’s just easier to have one deck. It meant that I had to get everyones slides day of, and put them all together in Keynote. It was a bit of a pain, but worth it.
